An ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system is in operation in the Orange Zone car park which means that only staff day parkers who have booked in advance, permit holders and pre-booked visitors will be able to park during the core hours of 0700-1700, Monday to Friday.
The ANPR system removes the need for automatic barriers, resulting in a better flow of traffic in and out of the car park. It will also provide key information on the use of parking spaces to allow better management of permit allocations.
In order to make the system as efficient as possible, access to the Orange Zone car park will be through two entrances – Woodhouse Lane, near Parkinson Building and Willow Terrace. The exit point on Lodge Street and the former access point at Fenton Street have now closed.
Other Car Parks
For all other car parks barrier cards are required to access these and available to staff permit holders.
Out of Hours Parking for Staff and Students
All staff and students wishing to park at the University car parks out of core hours will need to register their car number plate. Details of how to do this can be found here.
Pay stations are available to enable members of the public to pay for parking outside of the core hours. These are located in the new multi-storey car park and The Edge car park (orange zone car park).
As per the parking enforcement terms and conditions (opens new PDF), any vehicle in breach of these conditions will be issued with a parking charge of £80 (reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days).
